It's All About Balance

It’s all about balance

Have you noticed how many people and groups today seem to have really gotten goofy?  It’s like there is very little balance in many people today.  You have leftist  groups that think you are  inhuman if you don’t think it’s ok for a man to use the woman’s restroom or a thousand other things I could mention here; you have Christians who think you are going to Hell because you didn’t support Cruz.  Why do you think this is?  It’s because the world is out of balance….

There is a force (and we all know it’s demonic) in the world today trying to herd everyone into the same corral – to feed them the same agenda.  It used to be there was at least some common sense in the world but there seems to be very little of that for quite some time now.

As a Christian we have no obligation to the world agenda or any agenda other than the agenda of the Lord Jesus Christ.  If you set your compass and try to get your bearings from the news or any other worldly group you are going to get blown off course by the storm that is raging in the world today.  The Bible tells us that in Him we have peace - in Him we have joy – it’s in Him that we have direction and purpose.

One thing we tend to forget about is that in Him we also have balance.  Balance is important in the spirit just as it is in the natural.  When a ship is being loaded the weight has to be evenly distributed so that it will float correctly and not list to one side.  When a boat lists to one side it makes it more susceptible to sinking when storms come against it.

So what is spiritual balance?  First let’s talk about what spiritual balance is not.  It’s not letting the world dictate what is right – it’s not letting the world dictate what is important – it’s not letting the world view define what you believe.  True spiritual balance has nothing to do with the world but everything to do with you.

We as three part beings have to take care of the physical body that we live in and our soul (emotional) part of us as well.  But many Christians tend to neglect the most important part of our being – our spirit, and non-Christians completely neglect it.  That’s why the world is so messed up.  We know how to take care of our physical bodies – we tend to give it more priority than any other part of our being even though it should have the least priority.  We tend to also give our soul – emotional aspect of our being a higher priority than we should.  I cannot tell you the number of people my husband and I have counseled or cast the devil out of because they let their emotions become the driving force in their life. Think about this statement, it can change your life; “Just because you feel something that does not make it true, that does not make it right.” Your soul is susceptible to lies and manipulation.   Your soul has a tremendous amount of exposure to the world and the world systems.  If you are not spending consistent time with the Lord through prayer, reading and meditating on the word of God and  sitting quietly before Him so that He can speak to you or worshiping Him  how are you going to trust what you feel?

Our spirit should have the number one priority in the three parts of our being.  Our spirit when trained through the word of God will know the difference between good and evil – right and wrong – God’s agenda and the world’s agenda.  God desires to speak to us, to lead and guide us through our spirit.  One of the major reasons many Christians are not able to hear from God is because they are out of balance; their spirit is not in charge in their life – their soul or flesh is…

Your spirit is anxious and willing to take the lead.  Your spirit knows the voice of God, knows the will of the Lord Jesus and knows how to follow the Holy Spirit.  Why don’t you sit down today and do a spiritual balance check up.  Take a sheet of paper and put three columns on it, spirit, soul, body.  Think about the things you do for each, the amount of time you spend and list it in the columns.  Under spirit put the average amount of time you spend in prayer, worship, the word, etc.  Under soul list the amount of time spent watching TV, socializing, listening to music other than godly music, and all the other things you do to entertain your soul.  Now think about your body, about the amount of time you spend feeding, bathing, exercising (ha-ha we can forget that one) joking of course. I think you will be shocked at the amount of time you spend in each of these areas and in the case of your spirit – the lack of time.

If you want to be more sensitive to the Lord you are going to have to make some adjustments to bring spiritual balance to your life.  But it is worth it. God created us to be in perfect balance with Him, to move and breathe and have our being in Him.  In that balance is Heaven on Earth.  This does not come through formulas or legalistic things; it comes through making the decision to give spiritual things priority in your life even if it means giving up certain friends, not watching TV as much, whatever the Holy Spirit convicts you of.  When you make that decision and follow through you will be amazed at how sensitive your spirit will become and how balanced your life will be.

Here are some thoughts from my husband JP Timmons: “The storm raging didn't bother Jesus; the waves were high and the wind was blowing fiercely but Jesus was walking on the water and He wasn't afraid. And the 12 were afraid until Jesus got into the boat with them and rebuked the wind and the storm. Then there was calm. If we'll let Jesus captain our ship we won't be afraid when the storms of life come against us.”

Blessings,

Love you,

Evelyn

That was a good word . It helps us put things into prospective to where we are spending most of our time. Remember God want a relationship with each of us and that time is precious to Him. Praise God
